Demi Lovato Says She Didn’t Fall Off The Wagon
Dem Lovato’s ongoing sobriety is something she’s very proud of. In fact, just this past month she celebrated six years sober. Despite being very vocal about her sobriety, People says that she recently squared off on Instagram after someone questioned a picture of what appeared to feature an alcoholic drink edited out of her hand.
The picture above is Exhibit A. It shows Demi and three of her friends (Matthew Scott Montgomery, Sirah, and Hayley Kiyoko) at a bar in Hollywood last week. Please note Demi’s right hand, which kind of looks like it’s scratching her knee. The pic was posted to Instagram by both Matthew and Sirah. Now for Exhibit B. The following picture was posted to a Hayley Kiyoko fan account after it was taken from Hayley’s Instagram. It doesn’t exist on Hayley’s anymore, which means it was either posted and deleted, or posted in her Instagram Stories. This picture clearly shows Demi’s hand holding a suspiciously-colored liquid in a glass.
The investigative team at BuzzFeed compared the two pictures, and determined that they were both posted using the same filter and that everything is pretty much exactly the same except for the cup. And then there’s the mystery of why Hayley might post that picture and almost immediately delete it. One person in the comments pointed it out and dragged Demi into it with the hope of getting to the truth. They wrote:
“@ddlovato I’m not tryna question Demi’s sobriety bc I have a lot of respect for her, It just seems weird that her best friends post this pic with it shaded and then Hayley who isn’t rlly that close to Demi posts the one where you can see what she’s holding?? Like tf is going on.”
Demi replied:
“I don’t have to defend anything but it was Red Bull.”
Upon second inspection of Exhibit B, it does have the same color as Red Bull. It’s either that, or Demi takes her Long Island Iced Teas with a whisper of cola. I’d ask my friends to edit out my glass of Red Bull before they posted that picture too. I don’t need proof that my taste buds will accept something as gross as Red Bull.
