Carrie Underwood Will Show Her “Healing” Face At Sunday’s ACM Awards

Country music was panicked earlier this year when word came out that Carrie Underwood had badly hurt her face in a fall at her house in Nashville late last year. She needed upwards of 50 stitches, broke her wrist, and appeared to be going into hiding, which is the last thing that industry needed since country’s princesses were dropping like flies. Taylor Swift went pop, Maren Morris was showing up at EDM parties with Zedd…what was next? Wynonna Judd guesting on a Tiësto set this summer in Ibiza??

E! News says Carrie took to Instagram to give fans an update, and basically said her recovery is as good as can be for now. So she’s going to get back to work at Sunday Night Football and at this Sunday’s Academy of Country Music Awards:

“My wrist is almost back to normal, about 90% there…and the docs say that last 10% will come in time. And my face has been healing pretty nicely as well. I definitely feel more like myself than I have in a while. One of the silver linings for me in this healing process is the time I’ve gotten to spend with[my husband and son] I’ve been calling it ‘forced relaxation’ Sometimes I think things happen in order to make us slow down.”

She also talked about how jazzed she is her hockey-playing husband, Mike Fisher, is coming out of retirement to play for the Nashville Predators. As a Tennessean, I’m just happy I’ll have something to drool over when all the straights back home are watching an NHL game. She also posted a pic of half of her face a few days ago:

The whole busted face thing seemed really bad at first, but luckily we have crazed fans to dispel mysteries pretty quickly these days. A fan ran into Carrie the day of the disfigured face announcement and had the balls to ask her for a photo. Carrie agreed. Those of us expecting to “Harpo, who ‘dis woman” were actually more like, “Eh, I’ve looked puffier after just a round of healthy salty snacking.” But Carrie has still been hiding her face…and still says it ain’t perfect. But the show must go on! And I’m fully expecting Carrie to dramatically appear at the ACMs with a Phantom of the Opera mask on before chucking it and showing us the full reveal.
