Karlie Kloss Happened To Forget Taylor Swift While Naming Off Some Of Her Closest Friends
Trying to convince everyone that her friendship with Taylor Swift isn’t currently a pile of tear-stained diary pages is becoming a full-time job for Karlie Kloss. Ever since the Junior Jewels t-shirt name snub scandal of 2017, people have been keeping a close eye on Taylor and Karlie to see if they’re really still friends, or just possibly faking it to avoid a PR disaster. Karlie has been working really hard at delivering that BFF fantasy, but she might have recently slipped up and accidentally caused some drama.
Karlie is on the cover of the summer issue of Net-A-Porter’s Porter magazine, and during the interview, she speaks about her Kode With Klossy program, which teaches girls and women to code. So naturally the conversation turned to friendships. Karlie has had many notable friendships with other famous people. But Karlie says she’s also had friendships that didn’t last, which is pretty typical for a 25-year-old. She named the gals she’s maintained strong bonds with, but didn’t name Taylor.
“I’ve built really amazing friendships – some that last, some that don’t. A couple have become some of the most important relationships in my life, in particular those I’ve been in the trenches with, such as Jourdan Dunn, Joan Smalls, Toni Garrn and Lily Aldridge. We started as girls and we’ve grown up together, and I know if I need anything, I can call them up and they will be there for me, just like my friends from kindergarten.”
That’s probably not anything; maybe Karlie only wanted to focus on her model friends? Porter obliquely did Jennifer Lawrence a favor by pushing a little further and asking to comment about the status of her friendship with Taylor Swift. No dice.
But she refuses to be drawn on the subject…”It’s not like I’ve ever wanted to be so secretive about my private life. Carolina Herrera always says, ‘A woman who’s an open book is boring.’ There’s no mystery anymore. I know in my life what really matters to me. I’m not trying to hide that from the world; I just really like having a more private private life. I’ve got nothing to hide, though!”
She also refused to talk about her boyfriend Joshua Kushner.
It doesn’t make things better that Karlie has been spotted hanging around Taylor’s arch nemesis Katy Perry. But I just don’t understand all the secrecy. Oh well, she can’t hide long. If things are headed the way they appear to be headed for Taylor Swift and her new boyfriend Joe Alwyn, there could be a wedding in the future. And how is Karlie going to explain why she got stuck way back at Table 47 with second cousin Zeke Swift and Taylor’s cleaning lady? “Oh, I just like the privacy” isn’t going to cut it.
