Taylor Swift Is No Longer Apolitical

March 24, 2018 / Posted by:

Admittedly, March For Our Lives is a safe cause to stand behind, because well, the NRA. But Taylor Swift IS risking at least three of her 3 zillion fans. It’s still a sacrifice! People all over the world will be taking part in March For Our Lives protests today to demand gun reform here in the U.S. Firstly, GO KIDS. Secondly, Taylor Swift expressed a political opinion for once. Nice balls, Tay Tay.

Taylor Swift posted the March For Our Lives banner with a message on her Instagram yesterday, revealing that she’s donated to the organization and calling for “gun reform.

No one should have to go to school in fear of gun violence. Or to a nightclub.
Or to a concert.
Or to a movie theater.
Or to their place of worship.

Taylor has famously avoided the topic of politics in recent years. All the high wattage megapresence has ever supported politically was voting. And cats. (That’s reason enough not to trust her. I kid!) But I digress.

I’ve made a donation to show my support for the students, for the March For Our Lives campaign, for everyone affected by these tragedies, and to support gun reform. I’m so moved by the Parkland High School students, faculty, by all families and friends of victims who have spoken out, trying to prevent this from happening again.

In addition to Swifty, other celebrities that have come out on social media to support the kids from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and everyone else involved, according to USA Today. Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Lopez, and Lady Gaga all posted something on social media. There’s not a lot of snark to fling about with this one, but I will give it up to Taylor for posting her support without a Tommy Hilfiger-looking “candid” photoshoot of her at home signing a check.
