Bristol Palin’s Husband Dakota Meyer Has Filed For Divorce

February 14, 2018 / Posted by:

The Palin family has been quiet and drama-free for just a tad too long. And here we are, on the cusp of what could be a divorce battle messier than two mama grizzlies fightin’ over the last I Luv My Cubs travel mug at Bass Pro.

In May 2015, northern former abstinence princess Bristol Palin called off her wedding to questionably divorced US Marine Dakota Meyer. A few months later, a single Bristol announced she was pregnant (it turned out to be Dakota’s baby). In June 2016, Bristol and Dakota decided to get married. Last year they had a second kid together. And now, after less than two years of marriage, Dakota wants out.

People says that 29-year-old Dakota filed for divorce from 27-year-old Bristol about two weeks ago. It’s a good thing we know when he filed, otherwise I would have just assumed he did it the day before Valentine’s Day, which would be one hell of a message to send to someone. And that message is: “I would rather be knee-deep in calls from my lawyer than shove a chocolate-covered strawberry in your mouth.” A source tells People that Dakota moved out of their family home in Austin, Texas around Christmas. He has also blocked Bristol on social media, and she’s stopped following him.

Bristol and Dakota share two daughters: Sailor Grace (2) and Atlee Bay (9 months). Bristol also has a 9-year-old son, Tripp, with Levi Johnston. Bristol made an appearance on Dakota’s Instagram in a happy family portrait last month, but it would appear she wasn’t wearing her wedding ring.

It’s not known what their custody situation is or will be, but based on social media, it would appear they’re sharing the kids for now. It’s also not known why they split, or what Dakota listed as the reason for divorce. He probably wrote “irreconcilable differences.” But I’m sure the courthouse clerk would have also accepted papers that said: “Help, I’m legally married to a Palin.
