Money Isn’t The Only Reason Why Posh Is Doing The Spice Girls Reunion

Everyone had to squint and check each of the Spice Girls Instagrams from last week, because it seemed like a reunion was in the works and that Victoria Beckham had somehow been drugged enough to sign on for. For years, the only thing more guaranteed than a Geri Horner and Mel B fight was Posh doing another Spice Girls reunion. Alas, she did come around to this one, and it sounds like money (duh!) and self-esteem are driving the decision.

TMZ says Posh pulled a Spice 180 because she wants to be a Miss Independent and step out of husband David Beckham’s shadow. I sincerely hope that means we can expect one of the many (or all) songs Posh lip-synchs to includes a Kelly Clarkson number. If TMZ is to be believed, Posh and David kind of do their own thing and she’s sick of being left on the sidelines. She’s looking to “individualize.”

I don’t know how much I buy of that portion of the argument. Posh DOES have the fashion line (even if David’s company did have to bail it out), and it seems like she’s always on the cover of Vogue somewhere around the world. David just has soccer and those H&M undies ads. How big of a shadow is that?! Fine, I’ve seen the bulge. Plenty big.

One part of the story I DO believe is that she’s in it for the moolah, and it sounds like the Spice Girls do not have the same “We’re all equally important” motto the Friends cast had when they strong-armed NBC into giving everyone $1 million an episode. The girls may not get paid equally, and let’s just say it’s going to take more dough to get Posh back into platform boots and a mini skirt than it will for Baby. However, Vicky B shouldn’t let that get to her head, per a source:

“They are worth more as a group than they are individually, so this is a great venture for all of them.”

Ha! That motto should be tattooed on each of the Olsen twins forearm lest one of them ever try to fool themselves that she could be just as successful on her own doing a line at Kohl’s!
