Two Trailers For “Solo: A Star Wars Story” Were Released

During yesterday’s National Sporting Event, a sneak peek of the teaser trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story aired. So, basically a teaser trailer for a teaser trailer. Then the actual teaser trailer dropped today but it’s only slightly longer than the teaser, teaser trailer. Both the pre-teaser and the actual teaser show the big debut of Alden Ehrenreich as Han and Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, but only one of them might be a terrible actor. Also in it are Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) with bangs, Woody Harrelson with bangs and Chewbacca, also with bangs.

Here’s the pre-teaser teaser you might have caught yesterday:

Han barely has any lines in this one keeping the mystery of “can Alden act?” alive. Given that in his most visible role to-date in Hail, Caesar, he plays a dude who is cute but can’t act, this does not bode well. Donald’s Lando totally steals the show just by standing badassly in a cape.

Ouch. That voice over is… not great! The inflection and weird pause he put on “I was kicked out of the flight academy…for having a mind of my own?” gives me pause. Han shouldn’t have up-speak; that’s for young women who live in the valley? Or Australians? I’m also put off by Daenerys’ 50’s housewife hair and the fact that she announces “I know who you really are” and then Han says “what’s that?” and then she NEVER ANSWERS THE QUESTION! That’s bad dialog and/or a bad edit. And again, with just a split second of screen time, Donald makes me wish so bad that this was actually Lando: A Better Star Wars Story.
