A Very Sick Pink Performed The National Anthem At The Super Bowl

Much like many people this time of year, Pink has been fighting against the flu for the past few days. But unlike everyone else, Pink was booked to belt out the national anthem at the Super Bowl in Minneapolis last night. Unfortunately Pink wasn’t better by the time she was supposed to hit the field and Star Spangled Banner-ed the house down. So Pink performed sick. And I lost $20, because she didn’t do it while clutching a bottle of Tylenol and an electric blanket.

Pink sang pretty damn well for someone who was quite possibly fighting the urge to barf. She only really struggled on that notorious voice-wrecker of a high note at the end.

Of course, some viewers at home thought Pink sounded terrible, and they let her know. And because this is Pink we’re talking about, she doesn’t exactly give a shit if you think she wasn’t giving Whitney-quality levels of vocals.

I only wonder how much of Pink’s performance was dictated by getting sick. Maybe if she didn’t have the flu, she might have re-purposed Lady Gaga’s old Super Bowl harness and wires from last year and did some of her trademark acrobatics to the national anthem. Like swinging from one end of the stadium to the other while pretending to be a rocket’s red glare, and dropping from the ceiling. The only dropping that happened was when she spat out something before she sang. She later clarified what it actually was.

Pink is so clever. A lozenge on the field is a pretty clever sabotage tactic for an Eagles fan. Tom Brady is probably so bored of eating brown rice and asparagus water that he could easily be distracted by a candy-looking morsel on the field. That’s probably how he fumbled that catch; too busy thinking of that lozenge. “I wonder what flavor it was. Cherry? Maybe honey lemon? I miss sugar.
