When it was confirmed that Justin Timberlake is headlining the 2018 Super Bowl halftime show at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota, many said that he should rise from the bowels of the stage flanked by his boys Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick, and Joey Fatone, followed by letting Janet Jackson rip part of his pants off. But even though Justin and Janet are allegedly good now, she wasn’t approached by him to join him on stage. As for NSYNC, Joey Fatone swore that there wasn’t going to be a reunion at the Super Bowl. As it turns out, Joey might have been fibbing, because every member of NSYNC have been spotted in Minnesota this week.
TMZ says that Justin Timberlake has told reporters that NSYNC is not making a surprise guest appearance on stage during his halftime show. However, multiple people in Minneapolis have reportedly seen Lance, JC, Chris, and Joey in the downtown area. That’s only a little weird, since Lance Bass was Instagramming himself skiing in Wyoming just two days ago, and Joey was apparently signing autographs in Orlando, Florida yesterday. So maybe all that social media activity was to throw everyone off the scent while NSYNC practiced their one-hand clapping for the “Bye Bye Bye” choreography from an undisclosed location near Lake Minnetonka.
Lance’s manager also tells TMZ that he’s back home in Los Angeles after skiing in Wyoming. And Joey’s publicist confirmed to TMZ that he’s in Minnesota at the moment. Joey was spotted at a Super Bowl event recently by TMZ, and maintains that NSYNC won’t be performing. And he’s so serious about it, he made a $1000 bet with TMZ’s photographer.
Can Joey Fatone even afford to be making casual $1000 bets with photographers? Wait, did I just forget about NSYNC performing? Okay, that’s a pretty clever diversion there, Joey.
