Ann Curry Wasn’t Feeling Megyn Kelly’s Response To Jane Fonda

On Monday, Megyn Kelly used her time on Megyn Kelly TODAY to slap back at Jane Fonda. Jane has been scratching at Megyn ever since Megyn asked her about her plastic surgeries during an interview in September. Megyn probably high-fived herself in the mirror after her Jane takedown, but not everyone thinks what Megyn did was totally badass. Specifically, former TODAY co-anchor Ann Curry.

Ann appeared on The View yesterday to promote her new PBS show We’ll Meet Again, and during the Hot Topics segment they talked about Megyn. As to be expected, Joy Behar wasn’t having any of it. Meghan McCain wasn’t feeling it. Sunny Hotsin noted that you don’t see journalists doing this kind of thing. Then they zoned in on Ann Curry, because she’s a journalist who worked at TODAY. Ann said that what Megyn did was very un-journalist-like.

“The reason you don’t see this is because journalists are not supposed to be the story. We’re supposed to be – and it’s a struggle, I think, for everyone to be – but we’re supposed to be humble. We’re supposed to use whatever time we’re given to shine a light on other stories. I mean, there are so many stories that we’re not covering. And to take time with this – this is not journalism.”

Sunny pointed out that she believes Megyn’s behavior is “not the TODAY show,” and asked Ann just how bad this recent shit with Megyn, combined with the Matt Lauer drama, will be for NBC. Ann thinks that will be all up to the viewers to decide, but personally, she’s not here for how low Megyn went.

“The decision is really what the viewers will accept or not accept. I think that there is a feeling, listening to some of this, that…we are witnessing a certain amount of meanness which we should not tolerate. In general, about everything, we are better than this. We are made of good stuff. We can reach out to each other. We can listen.”

Ratings are up on Megyn’s show and viewers probably can’t get enough of watching her slowly implode on television, so I doubt this will be the end of her bitchy on-air responses. I wonder what she’s got cooked up for Ann? “Excuse you, but I’m pretty sure everyone knows I’m not better than this, and I definitely never said I was a journalist. Under the job section on my taxes, I write Pretty Blonde News Lady. So there!”
