Lil Suzy is considered one of the Princesses of Freestyle, because she was influential in the freestyle music game of the early-90s and started crooning out freestyle songs while still in grade school. Wikipedia says that Lil Suzy started singing for an audience when she was just 5 years old, and when she was 8, she got her first record deal. Shortly after, she put out her first single called Randy. When she was only 13 years old in 1992, she got her first and biggest hit, Take Me In Your Arms. The video, which I hadn’t seen until a few weeks ago, is a carousel of 90s glamour filled with baggy rolled-up jeans, tight black turtlenecks, a top ponytail done right (take note, Ariana Grande!), chunky belts and lots of camera pointing (the early-90s was all about camera pointing). Lil Suzy continued to release more albums and singles, and in 2000, she decided to bring some glamour to the nails of Staten Island. She got her nail technician license and opened up her own nail/hair salon. And while THEE Lil Suzy was glamour-ing up people’s nails in Staten Island, she was also working on her greatest hits album and going to school for medical assisting. The nail salon later shut down because Lil Suzy says she had so much going on and couldn’t devote enough time to it.

According to this bio from 2013, Lil Suzy is married with three kids, and still tours. So thankfully, Lil Suzy is still gifting the ears of freestyle fans with jewels like this one:

You know, Camila Cabello (the Chipette who pulled a stage 10 Geri Halliwell by quitting Fifth Harmony to make it on her own) has a new album out, and it’s currently at the top of the iTunes charts and the gays on Twitter are creaming over it (and yes, I’ve downloaded it, because good taste is not a quality I possess). I feel so sorry for the tween gays of today, because they never got to experience Lil Suzy (OUR Camila Cabello of the early-90s), who has a million times more raw talent, charisma and glamour (see: that neon naranja nail color in the Take Me In Your Arms video).
