Michael Douglas Is Trying To Get Ahead Of The Sexual Accuser Train

When Catherine Zeta-Jones used the “On Awards Day, we all wear black!” movement at Sunday’s Golden Globes to don a black nightie of a dress to present an award with her father-in-law Kirk Douglas, many brought up the rumors that he raped Natalie Wood. Clearly CZJ’s husband Michael Douglas was paying attention, as he’s now out trying to avoid something similar and saying there’s an old employee trying to say he was very inappropriate with her back in the day.

Michael did an exclusive interview with Deadline, where he preemptively said there is a pretty tawdry accusation in the pipeline from several decades ago, which he denies ever happening. Michael alleges a woman who worked for him over 30 years ago is shopping a story around to Variety and The Hollywood Reporter about how he allegedly choked the chicken in front of her. Ugh, what is it with these guys and playing the meat flute in front of unwilling colleagues?!

Michael claims his attorney passed along a message shortly before the holidays that THR wanted to do a story about how a woman who worked for him 32 years ago said he used “colorful language” in front of her, talked dirty, fired her, blackballed her from Hollywood, and jerked off in front of her (not necessarily in that order). Michael talked to THR’s reporter and said this to Deadline:

“I tried to think to reach back thirty plus years to try to remember. I remembered this woman: sophisticated intelligent, good sense of humor. A novelist, who has written books and published novels and was an active feminist, and proud of it. My head was reeling. I just couldn’t put this together. I’ve had no contact with her, in thirty-plus years.”

Didn’t he just sort of describe Sharon Stone’s character in Basic Instinct?

Michael denied everything, and the reporter apparently told him, “…she did say that you never harassed her, never touched her.” The reporter agreed to think about the story over the holidays, and they went their separate ways. When the holidays were over, the publication said they were running it since another report or two had emerged like a game of Whack-a-Mole. Michael says he was floored since it has turned into a game of what he calls “She Said, He’s Gone.”

Some people might wonder why Michael is such an eager beaver to tell his side instead of just waiting for the story to drop. He claims it’s so he can control the narrative and also remind everyone how he’s such a champion of women, supports CJZ, supports #metoo, and warn everyone that there is danger in going to far and getting backlash (using Sheryl Sandberg’s words as an example). Oh, Michael…you alllllmost had me…but you didn’t support CZJ when you basically implied her snatch (or others!) was to blame for your throat cancer!
