Kelly Clarkson Came Out As A Child Spanker

Spanking a child is a controversial subject and sometimes ends with both sides spanking each other in the mouth to shut one another up. But according to Page Six, Kelly Clarkson wasn’t afraid to start a mommy war when she admitted that she isn’t against spanking when it comes to disciplining her daughter River Rose, 3, and son Remington Alexander, 1.

“I’m not above a spanking, which people aren’t necessarily into,” she told a Rochester-based radio station last week. “And I don’t mean like hitting her hard, I just mean a spanking. My parents spanked me and I did fine in life and I feel fine about it,” she explained.

Having been raised in the 70s myself, most of the people I know got spanked as kids. I never did, which was great for me because it meant that I could gloat whenever my cousin got her ass handed to her. Spanking is one of those things that’s super personal but that a lot of people have very strong and vocal opinions about. And Kelly is aware that her pro-kid-popping stance is increasingly unpopular. So she thinks twice before doing it in public.

“So that’s a tricky thing when you’re out in public, ’cause then people are like, you know, they think that’s wrong or something, but I find nothing wrong with a spanking,” she said, before adding, “I warn her. I’m like, ‘Hi, I’m gonna spank you on your bottom if you don’t stop right now. Like, this is ridiculous.’”

Kelly said that when she was a little brat and got in trouble at school her mom would call down to the principal’s office and give her teachers permission to hit her. I’d say “oh, Texas” but that shit happened in Berkeley, CA too. We had some real mean teachers who wouldn’t even wait for a parental sanction before laying their hands on the children.

If people are upset by Kelly’s views on corporal punishment, it might make them feel better to know that her spanking days are numbered. After her current children grow up, there will be no more bottoms to smack: Kelly got her tubes tied after the birth of her son. Also, the people upset by this should also know that Kelly’s corporal punishment doesn’t involve making her kids watch the torture film  From Justin To Kelly.
