Meryl Streep Pulled The “Pot Calling Kettle Black” Card On Melania And Ivanka Trump

If 2017 taught us anything, it’s that any person with a penis and a shred of power is a scuzzy scuzzy perv who likely did foul things to women and/or potted plants. When Harvey Weinstein’s mess blew up and into the open, everyone waved their pitchforks at Meryl Streep for dabbing herself with Ivanka Trump’s complicit perfume. Now that she has a movie to promote, she’s holding up a mirror to the Trump gals when called an enabler and says, “I know you are, but what am I?!

The New York Times had a long interview with Meryl and Tom Hanks to talk about The Post, their new movie about how The Washington Post decided to run the Pentagon Papers. Of course, you can’t talk to Meryl these days without asking her what she knew regarding Harvey She’s here to slap back at those accusers:

“…I found out about this on a Friday and went home deep into my own life. And then somebody told me that on “Morning Joe” they were screaming that I haven’t responded yet. I don’t have a Twitter thing or – handle, whatever. And I don’t have Facebook. I really had to think. Because it really underlined my own sense of cluelessness, and also how evil, deeply evil, and duplicitous, a person he was, yet such a champion of really great work.”

Meryl said the whole thing has been eye opening because working so closely with people made her think she knew her coworkers only to find out they were all diddlers on the roof while Sophie was making her choice. Okay, I’ll stop, but she does add, “Some of my favorite people have been brought down by this, and he’s not one of them.” Ooo…who ever could you be referencing, Meryl?!

As for those claims that she should speak out, it sounds like she’ll say something official around the same time Trump releases his taxreturns:

“I don’t want to hear about the silence of me. I want to hear about the silence of Melania Trump. I want to hear from her. She has so much that’s valuable to say. And so does Ivanka. I want her to speak now.”

Speaking of silence, she remained pretty coy on her own past, saying when she was “young and pretty” she was “pretty beaten up” in the era of dudes horny and high on cocaine and all that shit. She added she didn’t want to ruin someone’s “mature life,” which really just sounds like a different aroma of complicit. Perhaps we should call this scent…Pushover?
