The Time Zac Efron And Michael Jackson Cried Together On The Phone

It involved Zac apologetically turning down a Jesus Juice get-together. I kid! Tom Cruise’s favorite pole dancer, Zac Efron, made a return appearance on The Graham Norton Show and had a heartwarming MJ story to tell. Michael Jackson was a big fan of High School Musical, Zac was a big fan of Michael Jackson, and tears were shed when the two got on the phone together.

Naturally, Efron gushed about how MJ was his hero and other standard things you do when you speak with a personal god. Jackson wrapped up the call, but wound up placing another one to Efron after putting it together what Efron’s (then) claim to fame was.

Let’s not get into why someone who had been acquitted of child molestation would still be ringing up 18-year-olds to gush over them. (The “why” was that MJ sorta/kinda lived in his own little world, right?) Yeah, so MJ called back and both fellas eventually dissolved into tears of mutual admiration.

“I picked up the phone and I go, ‘Hello?’ and he goes, ‘Oh this is Zac from High School Musical, and I was like, ‘Uh, yeah.’ And he was like, ‘Oh I love what you do. I’m a huge fan,’” shared Efron.

Zac went into how MJ was his idol, and MJ began to cry. And then Zac cried because MJ was crying and there weren’t enough tissues in the world for all the tears that were flowing.

“That made him cry. We’re both crying to each other on the phone and he ended the whole phone call conversation along the lines of, ‘Hey Zac. Isn’t it awesome? Dreams really do come true, don’t they.’”

The King of Pop was probably just a fan of Zac’s talent and wanted to share his admiration and that phone call probably didn’t include an invite to use the showers at Neverland. Although, you don’t hear about Michael Jackson having dialed up Sharpay.
