In case you forgot, Katy Perry released Witness a while back, and after debuting at #1 on the charts, it sank fast. Whoever controls the marketing budget at her record label must have had a pre-holiday martini lunch because she’s still churning out videos for this thing, and her latest for “Hey Hey Hey” just dropped.
Because Katy (seen above looking just like I did while watching this thing) has run out of cultures to appropriate, she went to the Versailles era of Marie Antoinette for her fourth single from the album. Katy must have a thing for spicy Cheetos because the same Takis from the Dark Horse video resurface in “Hey Hey Hey” just as she transforms into a rainbow chainmail-wearing swordsman rocking a Monkees haircut.
When it pivots back to the chola-browed Katy Antoinette, the narrative does stay true to history, so off with her head. I guess Taylor Swift served as creative director on this video? And Katy really needs to be reminded that if you’re going to go Versailles, there is only one chanteuse worthy of that cotton candy wig:
