The opossum who broke into a Florida liquor store and got drunk on the sweet nectar!
On December 1, a juvenile girl opossum woke up in a state of Dina Lohan (read: busted down drunkenness) and was lying next a broken and empty bottle of booze. The Northwest Florida Daily News says that an employee at Cash’s Liquor Store in Fort Walton Beach, FL found a drunk and drooling opossum lounging on a shelf with an empty bottle of booze next to her. Skunks better booze it up before the phrase “drunker than a drunk” gets officially replaced with “drunker than a Florida opossum.” Cash Moore himself believes that when she broke in, she knocked over a bottle of bourbon, which broke it. Being the smart and non-wasteful creature that she is, she couldn’t see beautiful booze go to waste and lapped it up.
The cops were called, and surprisingly, ole’ girl wasn’t charged with breaking and entering, thieving and underage drinking. She was passed off to the Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge, who posted that picture and wrote about her on Facebook.
On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: a drunk opossum in a box! This sly, and currently slurred, opossum snuck its way into a liquor store and discovered some holiday cheer of its own. A police officer brought the animal to us for medical treatment and is expected to be released soon.
Michelle Pettis of the Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge says that the opossum was definitely wasted and they sobered her up by giving her fluids. She was released back into the wild a few days later. I hear that after her release, MTV tracked her down and begged her to join the next season of Floribama Shore, but she turned them down, because she hangs out with enough trash.
So a note to all you cheap drunks: if you want to party by yourself for free and also get sobering-up liquids without paying for them, be a Florida opossum!
