Harvey Weinstein And The Weinstein Company Have Been Hit With Lawsuits

If you didn’t believe in karma before, Harvey Weinstein’s life might make you believe in it now. Going to sex rehab certainly hasn’t made the allegations against him go away. The ongoing saga of Harvey’s karma continues and we’re into the part where people start suing.

Several of Harvey’s alleged victims have decided to sue him and his former company in various lawsuits. The first lawsuit, a sexual battery and assault lawsuit, was filed by super lawyer Gloria Allred on behalf of a Jane Doe against Harvey Weinstein and The Weinstein Company on Tuesday in Los Angeles. Gloria Allred, as we all know, is the mother of former Harvey defender Lisa Bloom. I believe that might be the high-powered celebrity lawyer version of your mom watching you do a sloppy job at vacuuming and huffing, “Damn it, just let me do it.

Deadline says that the woman has allegedly known Harvey Weinstein since 2011, but has not gone public before with her allegations. Jane Doe claims that in 2015, Harvey lured her to his room at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills with the promise of a role in the Netflix show Marco Polo. Soon into their meeting, Jane Doe claims he grabbed her hand, and forced her to stay in the hotel room while he masturbated (despite her allegedly repeatedly telling him “no“). Several months later in 2016, Jane Doe claims Harvey invited her to another meeting after implying she was chosen for the part in Marco Polo. Jane Doe alleges that meeting ended with Harvey raping her.

The next lawsuit is a class action lawsuit filed recently in California. TMZ says it was filed on behalf of “dozens and possibly hundreds” of women who have met with Harvey to audition for or discuss involvement in projects by The Weinstein Company. The Blast says that the lawsuit sites allegations previously provided by actresses like Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, Rosanna Arquette, Asia Argento, and Mira Sorvino.

The case is led by a Jane Doe, who alleges that while auditioning for Harvey Weinstein, he instructed her to pull down her dress and show him her breasts. Jane Doe claims he repeatedly told her, “It’s just your breasts.” She claims she refused multiple times, to which Harvey allegedly informed her he could make or break her career, and that she would “never work in this town again.

The woman continued to refuse, and so an angry Harvey allegedly told her to find her own way out and pushed her into a side door that led to a dark stairwell and locked the door behind her. Jane Doe claims she panicked, walking up and down the stairwell, banging on doors and screaming until a maintenance person heard her and let her out.

Both lawsuits are filed against The Weinstein Company, and in the case of the second lawsuit, against Miramax. According to the lawsuits, TWC knew what was going on, and they turned a blind eye because Harvey was making them money. The second lawsuit also alleges that female employees were used as “honeypots” by TWC to gain trust in vulnerable women. Harvey Weinstein himself is currently suing TWC, for access to his personnel files.

A rep for Harvey Weinstein spoke to Deadline to deny the allegations in Gloria Allred’s lawsuit.

“Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein. Mr. Weinstein has further confirmed that there were never any acts of retaliation against any women for refusing his advances. Mr. Weinstein obviously can’t speak to anonymous allegations, but with respect to any women who have made allegations on the record, Mr. Weinstein believes that all of these relationships were consensual.”

Harvey is currently under investigation by the LAPD, NYPD, Beverly Hills PD, and UK police. So multiple police investigations and several lawsuits? Things don’t look good for Harvey. NASA should be on high alert. A new planet was just discovered that could support life, and I wouldn’t put it past him to get into a rocket ship and blast far, far away.
