J-Rod Brought Their Love To The Cover Of Vanity Fair
Before you know it, it will be the holiday season and that means there’s plenty of presents to buy. Jennifer Lopez and A-Rod’s respective publicists have clearly started planning ahead for those potential credit card bills in January by securing themselves an extra-large Christmas bonus this year. Apropos of nothing more than just dating for eight months, J-Rod made their magazine cover debut for the December issue of Vanity Fair.
Mario Testino photographed JLo and in a spread that look like stills from a corny James Bond reboot. A-Rod is James Bond’s part-time aspiring spy cousin, Double-O Seven Hundred CC’s of Injectable Steriods. And JLo is his mysterious female sidekick, Ivana Lottavattention. Coming to theaters in 2018, A-Rod and JLo in For Everyone’s Eyes Everywhere.
During the interview, they talked about all things J-Rod. They talked about their first date (dinner at the Hotel Bel Air), which involved A-Rod finally realizing it was a date more than halfway through and sending her a text from the bathroom that said “You look sexy AF.” They talked about their new house, which is filled with pictures of both JLo and A-Rod’s kids. JLo also says she and A-Rod are such a good match because they’re basically the same person.
“I understand him in a way that I don’t think anyone else could, and he understands me in a way that no one else could ever,” she says. “In his 20s, he came into big success with the biggest baseball contract [at the time]. I had a No. 1 movie and a No. 1 album and made history. We both had ups and downs and challenges in our 30s, and by our 40s we’d both been through so much. And more importantly than anything, we had both done a lot of work on ourselves.”
Oh yeah, that’s right – A-Rod has recently been working a redemption angle. That steroid-poppin’ bat-swinger is the old A-Rod. This is the new, honest, humble A-Rod. And in case you didn’t get it the first time…
“The most impressive thing to me was how he did pick himself up and take that opportunity to make himself a better person. The hardest times prove who you are. That’s what I love and admire the most about Alex. He doesn’t let anything beat him. He just comes back stronger.”
To be fair, all he really had to do to be a better person was not cheat at baseball, which isn’t exactly a difficult thing to do when you’ve since retired. But that’s what JLo loves an admires the most about him? I would have thought that the thing she loves the most is that he was willing to participate in such a cheesy photo shoot with her.
