Lindsay Lohan Says American Women Didn’t Care That She Was Assaulted By Her Ex-Fiancé

Are you an American woman who is familiar with Lindsay Lohan? I’ve got some bad news for you. Remember the time when Lindsay was engaged to Russian millionaire Egor Tarabasov, and their relationship was plagued by story after story (often courtesy of LiLo herself) about how shitty (sometimes physically) he was to her? According to Lindsay Lohan, you might be one of the many American women who didn’t care about that.

Lindsay made a very bold statement in defense of Harvey Weinstein on Instagram last week, and it’s clear she took a lot of heat for that. Because yesterday, she defended herself on Instagram (via a screen grab from The Parent Trap) with a comment about empowering women.

But that’s not the original comment. According to People, the original was a lot longer and accused “most American women” of turning their backs on Lindsay when she was going through it with Egor last year. Here is the original comment. In other news, Lindsay writes exactly like how she talks.

“Whatever anyone says, I am FOR #womenempowermen as if most women in America cared how I was abused by my exfiancé…when not one person stood up for me while he was abusing me…you could only imagine what it feels like to come out as a #strongwoman BUT, acknowledge this, we all make our own choices and wake up in our own beds in the morning. I prefer to go to my home and wake up alone. #BESTRONG let us not name anyone as #karma will always takes its toll #womensrights”

To be fair, I don’t think anyone – women or men, American or otherwise – thought Lindsay and Egor’s relationship was anything but an extemely unhealthy mess. I can’t speak for American women, but as a Canadian woman, I was often watching the dramatic events unfold and thinking, “Girl, call up a friend, get on a yacht, and take some you time.Dina Lohan, on the other hand – I could see her having trouble standing up. But let’s not hold that against her. A lot of people get the spins when they try to stand up after an afternoon of drinking.
