People Are Mad At Jason Momoa For A Rape Joke He Made In 2011

Because this is the week that the internet is bringing up problematic shit from the past, the internet has brought up a problematic video of Jason Momoa cracking a joke about rape.

Yesterday, a video resurfaced of Jason Momoa making jokes during a Game of Thrones panel at San Diego Comic-Con in 2011. Jason, who played Khal Drogo for two seasons, explains one of the benefits to working on a show like Game of Thrones was the opportunity to “rape beautiful women.

Jason took a little heat for his comments back in 2011, and he later semi-apologized for it during an interview. Jason Momoa hasn’t said anything publicly yet regarding the video.

The average number of monthly Twitter users in 2011 was around 93 million. In 2017, it’s 328 million. Not to mention that the Comic-Con panel took place during the first season of Game of Thrones when it wasn’t nearly as popular as it is today. So it’s not a surprise that more people are just hearing about Jason’s joke. The Wrap rounded up several responses on Twitter, and it varies from general disgust, to cursing him out for shattering their long-held belief that he isn’t that type of guy. It’s so much easier when slime balls like Ben Affleck get busted for garbage behavior; that I can comprehend. But Jason Momoa? Before today, I honestly thought the most offensive thing Jason Momoa could do in public in is be seen wearing a hideous velvet vest.
