Megyn Kelly Is Sinking “Today’s” Ratings
The transition of Megyn Kelly from the fräulein of Fox News to the tart of the Today has been more of a car crash than a walk in the park – and now the ratings reportedly show she’s sinking the whole ship!
Between her “gay thing” snafu on her first day and pissing Jane Fonda off, Megyn isn’t exactly making friends on her new show, Megyn Kelly Today. But some thought the ratings would still be high considering there’s nothing people love more than to tune in and watch a hot mess do her thang. It’s how Andy Cohen built an empire! But a source told Page Six her ratings are shit, and it’s making the whole show stink:
“Not only are ratings plummeting since Megyn Kelly joined the ‘Today’ franchise, but the numbers show Kelly’s lead-in has also affected Kathie Lee [Gifford] and Hoda Kotb’s show, which follows straight afterwards. They’ve taken a huge hit with Megyn as their lead-in.”
Not the booze bag and makeover hour!!! People must prefer Jenna Bush Hager, Sheinelle Jones, and Boston’s old weather gal Dylan Dreyer to Miss “Santa Is White” because Megyn’s hour of Today is down a whopping 32% from the same time last year. And Hoda and KLG’s mess express of a show is down 26%! Sources say head honchos at Today are mildly shitting bricks:
“Too many people are tuning out NBC. Hoda and Kathie Lee had been a bright spot in the mornings. People are alarmed.”
Megyn also apparently ditched her publicist last month, so some would say this is a downward spiral. Tamron Hall is probably twirling her cane into the sunset with the last laugh…only…she has tainted talk show juju on her end, too.
Tamron famously left Today once word got out the third hour was going to be Megyn’s. She inked a deal with the Weinstein Company for a new talk show, and, well, we know how that brand is doing at the moment.
Tamron told HuffPo that she’s talking to her agents about the next steps for her show, and she called Harvey Weinstein directly at 5am after she heard about the New York Times article about his years of alleged sexual harassment. She described the call as a “take no prisoners” kindof call, which I hope means she took off her earrings and went after him like she did with Scott Baio. Even though Harvey is no longer with The Weinstein Co., Tamron is still concerned considering she has built a reputation covering crimes against women with her Deadline Crime show on TLC.
Considering Megyn’s show is such a bomb and Harvey is such a turd, why not remake the third of hour of Today into “Tamron and Ann Curry Come Home” and relegate Megyn to the social media correspondent who just reads tweets on-air and hands out Kathie Lee’s CDs to visitors in the NBC gift shop? That would bring a surge in ratings and make Good Morning America get fewer viewers than public access!
