The first of the four Avatar sequels, Avatar 2: The Papyrus Diaries, doesn’t even come out until 2020 and yet these days it seems like you can’t throw a rock without hitting James Cameron while he’s talking Avatar this and Avatar that. Today’s rock caused some collateral damage when it bounced off James’ ego and landed on Kate Winslet who has just signed on for a leading role in the franchise.
According to Deadline:
“Kate and I have been looking for something to do together for 20 years, since our collaboration on Titanic, which was one of the most rewarding of my career,” Cameron said. “I can’t wait to see her bring the character of Ronal to life.”
Other than her character’s name, we don’t really have much information about the role. We don’t know if Ronal is a human or a Na’vi. Will Ronal be a heroine? Only if James thinks Kate has the right figure to be one. I’d check the Female Heroine Body Type Chart myself but I left it at home today.
In other Kate news, she wants you to know that she’s sorry she has disappointed you by never hooking up with Titanic co-star Leonardo DiCaprio. Kate, don’t get it twisted girl, we would have been disappointed if you did! Kate said this to ITV’s Lorraine during an interview (via Vanity Fair):
“Luckily, and this is the fortunate thing, we never fancied each other,” she said. “I know that’s really annoying to hear, sorry, but we really never did.” But, Winslet said, because she and DiCaprio never had a Jack-Rose dynamic, this kept the opportunity open for a solid friendship. It did mean that we were just able to have this . . . we were able to tease each other, which we still do,” she added. “It’s really amazing.”
Yeah, so Kate’s pussy was never fucking with that posse. VF goes on to note that whenever the Titanic cast gets together she does sometimes get swept up in the nostalgia.
“I’m not going to tell you what we actually talk about, but yeah, we’re very, very close and sometimes we do quote the odd Titanic line back and forth to each other, because only we can, and we find it really funny.”
Which really just has me thinking; Billy Zane and his magnificent chrome dome can still get it.
