Amber Tamblyn Isn’t Done With James Woods

There used to be a real Crankasaurus Rex on my floor in college who spent his Fridays pregaming with scotch and Fox News and basically screaming about how the country was going to shit because the rest of us were drinking cheap beer and sleeping around and, well, I kind of forget the rest because, well, cheap beer. It was always him face planted outside the dining hall at 3AM because he was too drunk to make it into the chicken finger line, and I’m pretty sure that just about sums up how James Woods works.

James showed he was a Hungry, Hungry Hypocrite the other day for getting all high and mighty about how the love fest between a 24-year-old and a 17-year-old in Call Me By Your Name is icky because he claimed it promoted pedophilia. Armie Hammer, who stars in the movie, pointed out James was 64 when he was porking a teenager, and all of gay Twitter did a giant snap in Z formation at the shade of it all. Because these things always snowball, Joan of Arcadia Amber Tamblyn came out of the woodwork to show God is always watching, especially when James tried to pick her up and take her to Vegas when she was sixteen. James has since denied that shit happened, but Amber is back to show not only is God always watching, he’s keeping a logbook, too. Amber screenshot a text exchange with a friend who backed her side of things, and she also warned James that she’s not putting down her shank anytime soon and went in on him in an open letter.

In the open letter to James, which he probably didn’t read since it’s kind of hard to read while trying to pick up your next piece outside of Hollywood High, Amber writes about the time he tried get with her 16-year-old not-famous-yet self, and she also slammed him with this.

The saddest part of this story doesn’t even concern me but concerns the universal woman’s story. The nation’s harmful narrative of disbelieving women first, above all else. Asking them to first corroborate or first give proof or first make sure we’re not misremembering or first consider the consequences of speaking out or first let men give their side or first just let your sanity come last.

So it is with hope, Mr. Woods, that I ask you to go inward now and ask yourself the hard stuff. The ominous unconscious stuff. The archetypal masculinity stuff. The power-play stuff. The perversion persuasion stuff. The secretive stuff. The id’s most cherished stuff.

Only you and your darkness know who you are. Only you and your actions know what you’ve done. That means you and only you have the power to change your behavior.

Are you and your history with women and girls a part of the problem, Mr. Woods?

Go now and look in the mirror and ask yourself if this is true. Go on, I’ll wait. But I won’t hold my breath.

You can read Amber’s open letter at Teen Vogue. And here’s that screenshot:

While it’s not exactly Kim Kardashian secretly filming you on Snapchat ironclad proof, I pretty much see all I need here. A diner, James Woods, Las Vegas…yeah, seems like an entirely logical, skeezy trinity. Pervy case closed!
