Taylor Swift’s Music Video Director Has Accused Beyonce Of Ripping Off “Bad Blood”

Gigi Hadid, Selena Gomez, Karlie Kloss, Todrick Hall, and the Haim sisters all better start thinking about putting in some overtime friendship hours with Taylor Swift, because Joseph Kahn appears to be gunning hard for the title of Most Valuable Squad Member.

Upon the release of the teaser of Taylor’s video for “Look What You Made Me Do,” some people pointed out that a few frames looked suspiciously like a blatant Forever 21 rip-off of Beyonce’s video for “Formation.” Joseph, the video’s director, took to his favorite platform, Twitter, and explained that he was absolutely not copying “Formation.” Then when the full video came out and people hissed, “Not now Taylor, we’ve got bigger shit to worry about than your hurt rich girl feelings!“, Joseph once again hopped on Twitter and slapped at the haters on behalf of his queen.

Joseph ain’t done! Joseph has more to say, and of course it all sounds like that one friend who gets sent to relay messages back and forth between warring popular girl groups on the playground at recess. Joseph recently spoke to the Los Angeles Times (via Billboard) about his battle rap film Bodied premiering at TIFF, and he made like the name of his movie and bodied the Beyhive.

“I suddenly understood the conflict of what’s going on in society and what battle rap serves, what prism to look at the movie through. It’s not Formation at all. They try to say she’s wearing a black crop top and Beyonce wore a black crop top. But they don’t realize in 2015 in Bad Blood, Taylor Swift was wearing a black crop top. I really do think, by the way, that Beyoncé copied Bad Blood.”

Joseph doesn’t say how “Formation” copies “Bad Blood.” I wish he did, because I honestly can’t make the connection. Was there a scene “Formation” where Beyonce recruits all her famous friends, gets dressed up in good girl assassin Halloween costumes, and detonates a warehouse full of explosives in an attempt to get petty revenge on Katy Perry? I must have missed that.

I’m starting to think it was written into Joseph’s squad contract that a portion of all fighting in the name of Tay Tay must be done on Twitter, because after the Los Angeles Times published his interview, he hopped on Twitter to clarify his comments. You guys, Joseph was totally just kidding, okay?

Trolling or not, Joseph has picked the wrong group to poke at with a metaphorical stick. The Beyhive is no joke. I hope Joseph has access to one of those sting-proof beekeeper suits, because he’s going to want to start wearing it at all times from here on out. Goodbye regular clothes, hello head-to-toe protective gear. Yes it’s going to be hot and uncomfortable, but you brought this on yourself, Joseph!
