“Malcolm In The Middle” Will Soon Be Malcolm In The Middle Of The Dance Floor

Another season of Dancing With the Stars (or as it’s known in my house, “Okay, but why is the British version called Strictly Come Dancing?“) will soon be upon us. Stars and the star-adjacent are begging their agents or whoever has a phone with a couple free minutes left on it to get them a spot on the 25th season. Handsome house fixer-upper and aspiring Hallmark movie boyfriend Drew Scott was the first to confirm that he has joined the cast. Great news for anyone who has ever wanted to see a come-to-life male department store mannequin attempt to cha-cha-cha. Another cast member that has been confirmed is former Malcolm in the Middle star and sometime mess Frankie Muniz.

31-year-old Frankie Muniz was papped by TMZ leaving dance studio yesterday with DWTS pro Witney Carson. He wasn’t there to rehearse for a musical theater adaptation of Big Fat Liar (truly the comeback vehicle Amanda Bynes deserves). UsWeekly confirmed that Frankie had indeed joined the cast. DWTS loves a ham-fisted theme dance that calls back to the star’s reason for relevancy. So I fully expect to see Frankie kick ball-changing in a pair of nerd glasses and suspenders to a They Might Be Giants cover while he shoots us a look that says, “No, I honestly didn’t think I needed the money that bad, either.

Other stars that have reportedly joined the cast are former NBA player Derek Fisher, singer/actor Jordan Fisher (no relation), violinist Lindsey Stirling, Paralympic swimmer Victoria Arlen, Shark Tank’s Barbara Corcoran, and Nick and Vanessa Lachey. Bobby Brown was supposed to join this season, but a source tells UsWeekly he dropped out at the last minute. The rest of the season’s stars will be announced on Good Morning America on September 6th.

I understand that Dancing With the Stars has a limited pool to fish from, but is Frankie Muniz really the best choice from the former Malcolm in the Middle cast? First they picked Grandma Ida (aka Cloris Leachman), which was a good choice, but not the best choice. Now Malcolm? Why?!? If you’re going to ask anyone from Malcolm in the Middle to shimmy and shake, it should be Hal! We all know it was Hal who had the moves.
