Meghan Markle Might Be Prince Harry’s Fiancée Now

It’s a dark day here at Dlisted. Prince Harry might be engaged, and it’s not to a certain American blogger named Michael K. In the spirit of hope, I’ll be choosing to treat this news as just a silly long-running rumor. Ha ha ha, look at this? The Daily Star UK is saying that Prince Harry is engaged to his girlfriend Meghan Markle! Oh what a fun thought.

Okay, but for real, if the Daily Star is telling the truth and they actually are engaged, Duchess Kate better prepare her facial reaction accordingly (Set eyes to “This is fine“). A source tells the Daily Star it happened during Future Princess Meghan’s fancy 36th birthday trip to Africa. 32-year-old Harry reportedly popped the question in Botswana while camping in the bush. No word on if he did it by saying: “We…suit…each other. Get it? Because you’re on a show called Suits?” They’ve been dating for almost a year.

Instead of an engagement ring, Harry reportedly slipped beaded Zulu betrothal bracelets on Meghan. She and Harry allegedly already wear Zulu bracelets in blue, white, and black as a “symbol” of their love. Meghan’s new bracelets have a traditional pattern that represents marriage. The source adds that Harry chose Africa to propose, because it means a lot to him.

“He has always felt close to Diana in Africa and it was she who taught him about the meaning of the tribal beads as she spent so much time there. Harry feels like he can be himself in Africa and the whole proposal was the private, free and expressive moment he had hoped for – made all the more so by keeping it as ‘their secret’ for a few weeks.”

Harry has reportedly told his friends that he and Meghan plan on making their engagement announcement sometime in September. When that happens, Meghan will most likely be wearing a £100,000 engagement ring that was made from a piece of Princess Diana’s jewelry (possibly one of her old tiaras). Harry originally owned Diana’s sapphire ring, but he gave that to Prince William to give to Duchess Kate back in 2010.

Whatever Meghan gets, she doesn’t get to put it on her ring finger until The Queen gives permission for Harry to marry an American TV actress and former Reitmans commercial star. If Harry wants to be sure The Queen will give the thumbs-up, he should ask his Granny sometime around 1pm. I’m sure she’s in a great mood while still buzzing from her three lunchtime drinks.
