The Trailer For Darren Aronofsky’s “Mother!” Has Arrived

No wonder they fell in love! Who would have guessed that the long anticipated movie Mother!, the one that brought together lovebirds Jennifer Lawrence and director Darren Aronofsky, would turn out to be a rom-com!? The trailer for Mother! has just come out, and it looks like a delight. In a departure from his usual dark, demented and psychologically thorny fare, this one looks like an absolute lark.

I’m no film buff, but as far as I can tell, Mother! is about a sexy couple living in a ramshackle house. J-Law gets her Under The Tuscan Sun on and remodels it into shabby chic perfection, while hubby Javier Bardem works on The Great American Novel. It’s all pillow talk and bedroom eyes until the couple’s love bubble bursts and Javier’s divorced parents show up unannounced. Hi-jinks ensue. Javier’s dad, Ed Harris is a gruff ex-cop who gave up on love when his wife, an art history professor played by Michelle Pfeiffer, left him for a younger man. Now, 15 years post divorce, the two have a second chance at love thanks to the playful meddling of Jennifer Lawrence. But will her antics get out of hand?

TBH, the end of the trailer got a little confusing. I think there may be some sort of zombie/ghost orgy, a bit of light bloodplay and a heatwave? Maybe? J-Law seems quite wet throughout. But in the immortal words of Levar Burton, you don’t have to take my word for it! The movie’s tagline says it all: “Seeing is Believing”.

In all seriousness, this looks absolutely horrifying and I am here for it, despite the fact that J-Law seems snively and weak (though I’m sure Darren Aronofsky’s got some surprise levels in there), I will watch anything with Javier Bardem. Is there a manlier actor out there right now? I don’t think so. Hubba, hubba, what a hunk!
