Kate Beckinsale’s Stalker Was Arrested
One of the ugly realities of celebrity life (besides not making the mathematically beautiful list) is that there are “fans” out there that are beyond the pale when it comes to sanity. Those people can sometimes get fixated on their favorite (or most hated) celebrity, feel rejected or slighted by them, and then decide to do something about it.
Luckily, one particular loon named Terry Lee Repp, 45, was arrested Saturday before he could make good on his threat to stab Kate Beckinsale. *insert lame joke about the Underworld movies not being THAT bad now that the wackjob’s safely in jail and we can lighten the mood*
TMZ reports that Terry Lee Repp was snatched at the Tampa Bay Comic Con at the Tampa Convention Center in Florida, where Kate was set to make an appearance. He has allegedly been stalking her for a year. Kate’s appearance was scheduled for 11 AM, and the cops were already on alert to watch out for him. He was spotted and caught. Conventions like that can get creepy-crowded and half the people are working the cosplay, so no one looks normal or like themselves. Imagine the scary possibilities if they hadn’t thrown a net around his looney-tune ass and he was all done up in a mask and running around? *shiver*
Kate’s appearance was rescheduled for 6 PM that night, because she had to go and file a police report. TMZ says it went off without a hitch. Terry Lee Repp was initially charged with misdemeanor stalking, but a reasonably intelligent judge upgraded the charge to felony stalking yesterday. He’s being held on $5000 bond.
Kate first encountered Terry at an event in Salt Lake City last year, where he reportedly touched her back and casually mentioned he wanted to stab her. Yikes. He also popped up at an event she attended in Houston. Thankfully, he didn’t come in contact with the actress in Tampa before his arrest. Because dude has obviously been a danger for awhile.
Cops say Repp appears to “have an irrational obsession with the victim and has traveled across the country in an effort to harass her.”
Kate can now focus on more important things. Like this dude’s abs.
