Drake’s New Tattoo

July 26, 2017 / Posted by:

Drake‘s look has always been more “aw, shucks” than “I fux” which probably vexes him no end. When you’re Canadian, have a baby face, your mom is a nice white lady, you used to play a kid in a wheelchair on TV and no matter how hard you work out you always carry the shadow of your pudgy 11-year old self, it’s hard for people to take you seriously as a rapper. One thing you can do to pump up your street cred is to get a lot of tattoos, and that’s just what Drake has been doing.

This week he revealed his latest body art on Instagram, which happens to be Lil Wayne‘s face. People Magazine reports:

The 30-year-old rapper shared a photo on Instagram as he wrapped up Houston Appreciation Weekend, which revealed his latest tricep tat: a portrait of legendary rapper Lil Wayne’s face glancing to the side.

The star’s new tat sits on his left tricep directly below images of skull and a bottle of Drakkar Noir cologne.

Looks like Drake’s plan to combat his less than menacing mien might actually work this time. What’s more hardcore than a tattoo of a rapper known for his crazy looks, gold teef and facial tattoos? I mean, Drake’s tattoo has tattoos. That is deep. He should have really gone for it and just gotten Lil Wayne’s face tattooed onto his own face. People adds:

It’s not too surprising to see Drake pay homage to Lil Wayne with this tattoo — the “A Milli” rapper helped Drake get his start in the music industry back in 2009, when he signed the star to his Young Money label.

It’s kind of a sweet gesture, really. Drake also has tattooed portraits of his mother and of his father on his body. It’s nice to pay tribute to those who’ve raised and mentored you. No word as to the role Drakkar Noir played in Drake’s life, but I’m sure it was fundamental in shaping him into the man he is today.
