An Animated Michael Jackson Halloween Special Coming To TV

Here’s a little nugget to file under the category of: Things Nobody Asked For. CBS is planning to air an hour long animated Halloween special called Michael Jackson’s Halloween. Unlike the nipped in the bud Joseph Fiennes horror show, this one is being produced and created by Michael’s official estate. Paris Jackson must be running low on petty cash to pay for her extensive drug rug and tie-die hobo wardrobe.

According to Entertainment Weekly:

The special follows two millennials, Vincent (Lucas Till) and Victoria (Kiersey Clemons), who meet “accidentally” on Halloween night and find themselves, along with Ichabod the dog, at a mysterious hotel located at 777 Jackson Street called This Place Hotel (which is a reference to Jackson’s 1980s song of the same name). Naturally, a magical adventure ensues the moment they enter, and it culminates with a dance finale featuring an animated King of Pop.

In addition to the dancing (re) animated corpse of Michael Jackson, the special will feature a bunch of songs from the MJ catalog. EW also reports that “Christine Baranski, Alan Cumming, George Eads, Brad Garrett, Lucy Liu, and Jim Parsons will also lend their voices to the event.” If they can bring Michael back to life for this, can’t they bring back the voice of Vincent Price? It’s really not a Jackson Halloween without him.

Since the two leads are millennials, I’m guessing some of the scary things they’ll be encountering in the haunted hotel will include a rickety-ass staircase that’s actually a metaphor for our country’s crumbling social security and medicaid system, scary republican vampires trying to suck their health insurance away and a fully animatronic recreation of Coachella complete with surround smell. I’ll personally be very disappointed if David S. Pumpkins doesn’t have a featured role in this.

The special will air sometime this fall.
