Hot Slut Of The Day!

The heroic flight attendant who broke a wine bottle on the head of an out-of-control passenger.

It seems like every week there’s a messy air travel story that makes some of us think that we should just walk to our destination or take a Segway (scratch that, I’d rather get hit in the head with a wine bottle than get on a Segway). And sometimes the flight staff gets the blame for the in-flight messiness, but in this story, nearly everyone is raising a glass (with pieces of broken wine bottle in it) to the flight attendant who helped to stop a crazy and dangerous situation from getting even more crazy and dangerous.

KIRO 7 reports that this latest act of airplane foolery started about an hour after a Delta flight left Seattle for Beijing on Thursday evening. 23-year-old Joseph Daniel Hudek IV, who is… wait for it… from Florida, boarded the flight at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport at around 5pm and settled into his first class seat. Joseph was flying on a dependent pass, so I’m sure he’s going to get another wine bottle to the head by the Delta employee who gave him that pass. Before the flight took off, Joseph asked for a beer and he seemed sober. Either Joseph is a serious lightweight who gets the rages from even a little drop of booze, or he took something, or he had the panic attack of all panic attacks. Because an hour after takeoff, he went to the lavatory and was in there for about two minutes before coming out. Witnesses say that when he came out, he lunged toward the forward right exit door and tried to open it. One flight crew member said that because of the low altitude,  Joseph could’ve opened the door.

Two flight attendants stepped in. One told the pilot who turned the plane around and headed back for Seattle, and the other asked passengers to help them tame the situation. An FBI agent, who interviewed passengers, says in an affidavit that Joseph Hulk’d out and punched a flight attendant twice in the face and hit another passenger in the head with a wine bottle. While all that was going on, he kept trying to open the door. One passenger told KIRO 7 that’s when our unnamed hero flight attendant hit him in the head with two wine bottles. That didn’t stop him and he kept going:

“They broke two bottles of wine on his head. I tried to choke him and he just threw me off like a rag doll.”

Court documents state that Hudek seemed unfazed by a full bottle of wine being broken over his head and shouted something along the lines of, “Do you know who I am?”

One passenger eventually got Joseph into a headlock and he was restrained with zip ties. When the plane landed, he was handcuffed, zip-tied to a wheelchair and wheeled off by police. But just because he was in police custody doesn’t mean that he calmed down. He allegedly turned the wheelchair over and screamed at people to help him.

Joseph was put in front of a judge on Friday, and judging by this court room sketch, dude is huge:

He faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

One flight attendant and passenger were taken to the hospital with facial injuries. The galley also received several injuries (see: picture at the top).

It sounds like Joseph was really, really going through something, or he made the mistake of accidentally taking PCP instead of a Valium. Never do that. And this may be one of the only times when I’ll say that it’s okay to ruin a bottle of the sweet nectar.
