Hot Slut Of The Day!

Frances Goldin, the NYC mom who has shown her love for her lesbian daughters by carrying the same sign at Pride for over 45 years!

On the left is literary agent and founder of the Goldin Agency, Frances Goldin, holding an “I Adore My Lesbian Daughters” sign at NYC Pride in 1994, and on the right is Frances with that same sign at NYC Pride yesterday. Frances is now 93 years old. I should remind myself about 93-year-old Frances showing up to Pride with a sign when I’m at Pride and my young-ish, lazy bones get tired and I think, “I’m too old for this, I need to rest my bones at that bar over there and rehydrate myself with a thirst-quenching grapefruit and vodka, minus the grapefruit.

CNN says that Frances’ daughters, Sally (now 71) and Reena Goldin (now the best age: 69), came out to her and their dad in 1970. Frances immediately supported them and her first question was, “Why didn’t you tell me sooner?” NYC’s first Pride march was in 1970, and one year later, Frances Goldin made her Pride debut with a sign made by her old roommate, who was a painter. Frances added the “Keep Them Safe” on her sign a few years later after hearing more and more stories about violence against the gay community.

She says that throughout the decades, her iconic sign has made youngins’ tell her that they wish she was their mom since they’ve got homophobic parents. Frances has called gay-hating parents and told them to get their shit together:

“I told them what they were missing, how they were wounding their children by not reaching out to them. If I said I’d call them, (the people) gave me the numbers, (and) I’d call them.”

Frances has only missed one Pride parade since 1971 and she had a really good reason for why. She had a heart attack. This year, Frances was finally in the parade for the first time and she sat on the lead float with Reena and her iconic sign.

Frances is a badass hero in many ways (examples: showing up to Pride every year, supporting her daughters, trying to talk sense into gay-hating parents and choosing a super elegant font for her sign, etc…). Here’s to more years of her being the Queen of NYC Pride. And someone should really get her a giant FoodSaver with a gigantic vacuum bag so she can seal up her iconic sign and keep it perfectly preserved for when it eventually gets a prime spot at the Smithsonian!
