Zoe Kravitz Confirms Charlize Theron And Tom Hardy Didn’t Get Along On The Set of “Mad Max”

Really? I never could have guessed from Tom Hardy looking very unimpressed while posing with Charlize Theron at the Cannes premiere. While promoting Mad Max: Fury Road last year, Charlize Theron candidly spoke about her working relationship with Tom Hardy, saying they “struggled” with each other. Charlize told Esquire that after they were done shooting, Tom gave her a painted portrait of herself with a note on the back that read: “You are an absolute nightmare, BUT you are also fucking awesome. I’ll kind of miss you.

Zoe Kravitz, who played one of the five kidnapped wives in Mad Max, confirmed on Watch What Happens Live last night that the stories are true, and that they pretty much hated each other.

Zoe was asked if she witnessed an tension between Charlize and Tom on the set of Mad Max: Fury Road. Zoe answered with a hilariously succinct: “Yeah.” She elaborated a little further saying:

“Yeah, they didn’t get along. And we were also in the desert for so long, I think everyone was tired and confused and homesick and we saw nothing but sand for six months. It’s just, you go crazy. I don’t know if there was one issue, I just think it was like, they just weren’t vibing.”

Zoe does a lot of explaining, but I really wish she had given an example. The answer isn’t enough, sometimes you’ve got to show your work too! What kind of awkwardness did she witness? Were any fights started over sand? If I’m going to pick sides, I need to know if one of them carelessly tracked sand into the makeup trailer. Indoor sand is a real deal breaker.
