Dani Mathers Isn’t Sorry She Got Caught Snapchat Shaming

Dani Mathers, the Playboy Playmate who was charged with invasion of privacy for body-shaming an older naked woman at her gym on Snapchat, was hiding in her mom’s basement after she took a plea deal. (Dani got three years probation and 30 days of community service.) But like a centipede emerging from a crack after a damp shower, Dani Mathers continues to scuttle back into our lives.

Dani talked to UsWeekly and claims she’s sorry for what she did, but she’s not sorry it happened, because she’s learning, growing and other such positive vibes bullshit.

“There is no doubt I regret that stupid choice. I am sorry that it happened to this woman. But I am not sorry about what happened to me. I would not have this push to create positivity and try to change people’s minds about how they act without thinking. My life flipped upside down. But it’s a blessing in disguise.”

Dani also cried to UsWeekly about how the internet was so mean to her after all this happened.

“People have been relentless. That’s a lot of why I had to step away [from social media]. All I want to do is defend myself. But if I spend every moment defending myself, I wouldn’t be getting anything positive done. I have to block it out. I can’t feed my mind and my heart with negativity.

My hope is to turn the corner and show people the person I am. Some people want to believe I’m only working with charities because of my consequences. But at the end of the day, I know who I am.”

During an interview with Good Morning America last month, Dani claimed that she tried to reach out to the woman she shamed to apologize, but she never got a response. That was allegedly a lie. The woman’s lawyer told The Los Angeles Times that the victim never heard from Dani. Still, Dani tells UsWeekly what she would say to the woman if she had the chance:

“A million things have run through my mind. But bottom line is: ‘I’m so sorry.’ I never intended to hurt her. There was a lot of pain caused and I think she would like to put this behind her, as would I.”

I’m sure Dani would love to put this all behind her. Sadly, Snapchatting the naked behind of a stranger isn’t the sort of thing people are quick to forget. The most ironic part is that Dani’s Snapchat was captioned: “If I can’t unsee this then you can’t either.” Dani, people are just doing what you commanded them to do; they’re never, ever going to unsee what you did.
