Cameron Diaz Explains Why You Haven’t Seen Her In Anything Lately

Cameron Diaz’s last big acting job was as Miss Hannigan in the Annie remake. That was 2014. Since then, she’s written a lady body manual and got married. But she hasn’t acted in anything since, and the only thing above Annie on her IMDB page is a cameo appearance on the kids show Yo Gabba Gabba. So what has Cammy been doing these past three years? Reassuring Benji Madden his tattoos still look cool? No, she’s been finding herself.

Gwyneth Paltrow set up her caravan and peddled all her magic beans this weekend in Los Angeles (she held an expensive bullshit event for rich ladies called The In Goop Health Wellness Summit). E! News says Cameron explained where she’s been during a panel filled with Miranda Kerr, Nicole Richie, and Tory Burch. She stepped away from Hollywood because she got tired of traveling around as Famous Actress Cameron Diaz for two decades.

“I just went, ‘I can’t really say who I am to myself.’ Which is a hard thing to face up to. I felt the need to make myself whole.”

She also talked about getting married at 41 by saying she was waiting to meet her “husband,” and that she married one of the Madden bros because he felt like a “true partner.

Even though 44-year-old Cameron isn’t anywhere close to approaching her last fuckable day, it’s no secret that being a woman above the age of 29 in Hollywood isn’t exactly great news for your career. So Cameron’s hiatus might be self-imposed or, sadly, it might also not. Although there is a chance it could have something to do with getting nominated (and winning) Razzies for her performances in 2014. Let’s just say I won’t be surprised if part of Cameron’s self-discovery is the realization she might want to start picking better movies.

And here’s Cameron and Co. at The Goop Wellness Whatever looking like they’re competing in a beauty pageant sponsored by vintage bedsheets.
