Clairol True-To-Light Makeup Mirror Of Glamour!

I sadly don’t have a PhD or masters in BEAUTY!!!, so I don’t know the exact history of the Clairol True-To-Light makeup mirror. But after doing extensive research (read: a 2 minute Google search instead of my usual 25 second Google search), I learned that it seems like Clairol first introduced it in the 70s and several “volumes” were made. My mom bought one in the 1980s and it was the Mona Lisa and technological wonder of her bathroom.

Clairol, of course, still makes 3 panel multi-setting illuminated makeup mirrors, but back in the 80s, their True-To-Light mirror was a high-tech masterpiece to me. It was as if something from Jane Jetson’s boudoir was beamed into my mom’s bathroom. With the simple turn of the knob on the True-To-Light mirror, the lights would magically change to show you what your face was going to look like during the day, at the office, in the evening or at home. That way you could make sure your face was beat for the gods for every occasion! This knob right here had me asking, “When did NASA get into the beauty business?

If I wore makeup, I’d definitely get one, but I’d ask Clairol if they could please add the settings, “IHOP At 3AM After Boozing,” “The DMV” and “A Bar Bathroom Stall During A Quick Hookup.

And if the Clairol True-To-Light mirror was the Instagram filter machine of its day, then the commercial from the 70s was an Instagram filter dream world on acid. I never knew that one of my fantasies is to have a romantic dinner in the bathroom with a 70s haired hot piece until I watched this gorgeous commercial.
