Anderson Cooper Apologized For Getting Crude On One Of Trump’s Talking Heads

Anderson Cooper may have elegantly sprung fully silvered from Gloria Vanderbilt’s opulent womb, but it doesn’t mean he won’t get real and raunchy with fools. This was never more true than yesterday afternoon, when Anderson was sparring on CNN with political commentator, Jeffrey Lord. Jeffrey is ride-or-die for Donald Trump (you know, the most tragic and heroic victim of the Salem witch trials?) and was defending him when Anderson finally had it.

An exasperated eye roll wasn’t going to cut it this time. This is the kind of salty language you get from Anderson when someone steals his kale and quinoa salad out of the CNN breakroom fridge. Sure, Anderson briefly misplaced his journalistic integrity, but we thank him for speaking up for all of the sane people during our American waking nightmare. From EW:

Cooper was pressing Lord on whether it was appropriate for President Trump to tell Russian officials that his firing of FBI Director James Comey relieved pressure on his administration, but Lord attempted to sidestep the question. Cooper then blurted out, “If he took a dump on his desk, you would defend it.”

Perhaps remembering that his mom watches the show and would abhor such crude and common language, he quickly backpedaled.

“I mean, I don’t know what he would do that you would not defend. I mean, you’re a loyal guy, I think that speaks well of you.”

Cooper later apologized on the air for being “a little crude.”

CNN president Jeff Zucker must have given him the “um, Anderson?” side-eye after the broadcast, because he also apologized on Twitter.

Anderson should tell the Twitter bird to feed that apology to its young, because he actually showed remarkable restraint. Most of us would have lost it about 17 exits back and been frothing at the mouth while screaming profanities at some of these delusional POTUS apologists. Mahatma Gandhi himself would have been taking off his sandals and hurl them at peoples heads, by this point.

You can watch Anderson Cooper give a verbal poop emoji to the Jeffrey, below.
