Suge Knight Says He Was The Target Of The Shooting That Killed Tupac

Last year, Suge Knight sued Dr. Dre for allegedly trying to have him killed to prevent him from getting his hands on $300 million of Dre’s dollars. People have tried to shoot Suge many times before that, but he might be more common of a target than we realize. According to the filmmakers of a new documentary called Tupac Assassination: Battle for Compton, Suge claims that the gunfire that killed Tupac Shakur in Las Vegas back in 1996 was meant for him.

Tupac was shot four times while sitting in a car that was stopped at a traffic light after he and Suge left a Mike Tyson fight at the MGM Grand. A source tells Music News (via The Daily Mail) that Suge, who is still locked up on murder charges, swore in an affidavit that he knows the identity of Tupac’s killer. There’s a theory in Tupac Assassination that Suge was the main target and that Tupac just so happened to have gotten in the way. Suge allegedly swears it, but has previously refused to identify who did it. Now he is claiming it was his ex-wife Sharitha Knight and former Death Row Records security chief Reggie White Jr. arranged the hit.

This theory isn’t a new one. According to LAPD Detective Russell Poole, Sharitha was in the process of divorcing Suge, and if he was killed, she would get most of his money.

As for why he’s talking now, the source claims Suge is hoping that by confirming the murder theory in Tupac Assassination: Battle for Compton, it might finally bring some closure to the situation. But since it’s Suge we’re talking about, there’s also an extremely selfish angle.

The source says that according to Suge’s affidavit, he believes Tupac’s murder might have been the first of many attempts on his life. That, in turn, can be used as evidence in court that people just can’t stop shooting at Suge. Suge ran over two men on the set of Straight Outta Compton in 2015, one being his friend Terry Carter. Suge’s lawyers have argued that he accidentally struck Carter as he fled the scene in fear for his life suspecting an armed ambush. So by swearing that the documentary’s theory is correct, he can claim he’s been living in fear of assassination since 1996.

There are so many theories surrounding the death of Tupac, but this one seems the most legit to me. With that being said, it sucks knowing that by pure bad luck we were denied Poetic Justice 2: Scent of a Punani. It now makes so much sense that Tupac’s alleged last words were “fuck you.
