Jenny Slate Has Nice Words To Say About Her Ex-Boyfriend Chris Evans

During an interview with Vulture, Jenny Slate got into her thing with Chris Evans. Jenny and Chris went “official” as a couple last June, and were together for almost a year. Their relationship allegedly croaked because they were both just too busy to be a couple. Either Jenny is really trying to sell the whole “There was no drama!” angle or Chris’ PR person tearfully begged her to say a lot of nice things about him if anyone asks.

Here is what Jenny had to say about Chris Evans.

On not keeping their relationship secret: “I don’t mind talking about him at all. He’s a lovely person. I don’t know. It feels like such a huge thing. Last year was a giant, big year for my heart. I’ve never, ever thought to keep anything private because that’s not really what I’m like, and now I’m learning those things, and they’re weird, kind of demented lessons to learn.”

On how Chris is a chocolate lab trapped in the body of a jacked man: Every weekend (while filming Gifted), Evans would organize a game night for the cast and crew that she begrudgingly went to. “I first really liked Chris as a person because he is so unpretentious. He is a straight-up 35-year-old man who wants to play games. That’s it. I was like, ‘I’d better not discount this, because this is purity.'”

On how you could probably mail Chris Evans’ heart away in a manila envelope and get some quick cash in return: “Chris is truly one of the kindest people I’ve ever met, to the point where sometimes I would look at him and it would kind of break my heart. He’s really vulnerable, and he’s really straightforward. He’s like primary colors. He has beautiful, big, strong emotions, and he’s really sure of them. It’s just wonderful to be around. His heart is probably golden-colored, if you could paint it.”

As much as Jenny talks nice words about Chris Evans and his gold-plated heart, she says she hasn’t really seen him or spoken to him a lot since they split up. She says a bit more about him, which you can read over at Vulture.

If you’re hoping for some juicy dirt on the seconds between the time she called it quits with her husband Dean Fleischer-Camp and got with Chris Evans, I’m sorry to tell you but Jenny doesn’t go there. Jenny tells Vulture that the “psychos” of the internet can stop thinking anything cheater-ey went down. Jenny says she’s still very good friends with her ex-husband, and that they got divorced because they would rather be friends.

But back to Chris Evans. I’m glad Jenny spilled about Captain America. Two years ago, Chris Evans had a sweet moment with living legend Betty White at the People’s Choice Awards. Half of me melted into my chair (gross, not like that) and the other half was suspicious of his motivations. Now I know for sure that Chris Evans is legitimately kind and sweet and wasn’t just buttering up Betty White. I don’t know for sure, but I’m pretty confident that any friend of a Golden Girl gets a spot guaranteed for them in Heaven.
