Brace Yourselves For Another Possibly Messy Custody Battle….

And yes, this is the official “Brace Yourselves For Another Possibly Messy Custody Battle” face:

In January, we learned that Scarlett Johansson and her French journalist husband of about 2 years, Romain Dauriac, broke up over the summer after deciding that they didn’t want to wake up to each other’s faces every day anymore. It seemed like ScarJo and RoDa’s split wasn’t going to go the way of other celebrity splits (read: into a diarrhea puddle). While separated, ScarJo and Romain opened up their fancy popcorn shop in Paris together, and even after the news of their break-up came out, they posed for a picture together at some event. But since a Hollywood divorce just can’t go smoothly anymore, Romain’s lawyer tells Page Six that shit may get bumpy.

ScarJo filed divorce papers in Manhattan on Monday and she asked for primary custody of their 2-year-old daughter Rose Dorothy Dauriac. Romain’s lawyer, Harold Mayerson, says that he plans to fight ScarJo’s request for primary custody, because he wants primary custody. ScarJo travels a lot for her job and so Romain thinks it’d be best if their daughter lives with him in France.

A source says that after their break up, ScarJo and Romain worked out a temporary custody schedule where they each spent every other week with Rose Dorothy. But apparently, ScarJo wanted to change the schedule to her getting Rose Dorothy for three days a week and Romain getting their daughter for two days. (Who knows about those two other days in the week.) Romain reportedly felt like his life was starting to revolve around ScarJo’s schedule and when he complained about it, her lawyer told him that this is the way it’s done in Hollywood, dahling!

Harold Mayerson said this about how a messy custody fight may soon be upon us:

“He would like to move to France with his daughter and Ms. Johansson does a lot of traveling,” Mayerson explained.

“It will be an interesting process,” he said of the unfolding divorce drama, declining to comment further.

ScarJo set Romain up with a fancy popcorn shop, what more does he want?! If I was him, I’d say to her, “But moi gets to keep ze popcorn shop, no?” But really, there’s a simple and fair way to figure out who should get primary custody of Rose Dorothy. Whichever one of them came up with the name Rose Dorothy deserves primary custody, because anyone who names their kid after two Golden Girls characters is obviously a wonderful, intelligent human being who cares about the future of their child!

UPDATE: Harold Mayerson also told People that they were in the middle of negotiating custody stuff with ScarJo’s lawyers, so they were shocked that she filed for divorce like that. “Barely holding it together working mom” ScarJo put out her own statement saying that she’s going to keep her lips shut about her divorce and she hopes French popcorn dude does the same.

“As a devoted mother and private person and with complete awareness that my daughter will one day be old enough to read the news about herself, I would only like to say that I will never, ever be commenting on the dissolution of my marriage. Out of respect for my desires as a parent and out of respect for all working moms, it is with kindness that I ask other parties involved and the media to do the same.”
