Nicole Kidman Is Not Here For Your “Worst Dressed” Lists

Nicole Kidman wears whatever the hell Nicole Kidman wants to wear on the red carpet. Example: above. Sometimes that works for her and sometimes it doesn’t. That kind of questionable couture selection has landed her on a number of Worst Dressed lists. But Nicole doesn’t cry Botox tears every time she ends up on one of those lists.

In the same interview with Net-A-Porter’s The Edit in which she so-casually dropped that she was once engaged to Lenny Kravitz, Nicole talks about being a fashion don’t. Nicole says she doesn’t care, but adds that the lists are misogynistic.

“I have no problem being divisive…I’m not a fan of ‘Worst Dressed’ things because I don’t believe in crucifying people for their individual [taste]. It just seems nasty and misogynistic, so that needs to go away. I have worked with directors who are divisive, so I’m used to [criticism], and as my husband says, ‘You don’t want to have a thick skin; that’s not a compliment.’…Oh well, sticks and stones can break your bones, but names will never hurt you, right?”

I’m kind of on Team Nicole when it comes to the subject of Worst Dressed lists. Like, who is to even say what looks bad? Most people think that Demi Moore’s formal bike shorts and bustier eleganza from the 1989 Oscars was a bad look, but I still think it’s one of the hottest who-gives-a-fuck fashions of all time. Good taste is subjective. Not to mention that less Worst Dressed lists mean less fear of ending up on one, which means people will start dressing as tacky as their little hearts want. I, for one, want to see more ball pit gowns and satin nipple covers.

And just for fun, here’s a gallery of a bunch of looks that probably landed Nicole someone’s Worst Dressed list.
