Open Post: Hosted By Catherine Zeta-Jones As Olivia de Havilland In “Feud”

During the Super Bowl, a couple of promos for Ryan Murphy’s Feud aired. No, they weren’t at all out of place. They fit in perfectly since this year’s Super Bowl was the gayest event of 2017. I mean, it had Lady Gaga, men in tights and a dramatic plot twist.

As everyone knows by now, the first season of Feud is all about the battle royale that Bette Davis and Joan Crawford busted out while making Whatever Happened To Baby Jane? One of the promos shows Catherine Zeta-Jones camping it up to kingdom come as Olivia de Havilland and the other one shows Bette Davis (Susan Sarandon) kick at Joan Crawford (Jessica Lange) while shooting a scene. Ryan Murphy really made the wrong decision when he didn’t get Alaska and Alyssa Edwards to do that scene for Susan and Jessica.

Olivia de Havilland was one of Bette Davis’ close friends and apparently she opens up the first episode by talking about her friend’s legendary feud with Joan Crawford. CZJ isn’t giving me Olivia de Havilland at all in this clip. She’s giving me Endora from Bewitched in Debbie Reynolds drag. But I’ll take it!

And here’s Susan kicking at Jessica. I bet when Debra Messing sees this clip, she’ll think to herself, “Oh, I see that Susan is kicking at Jessica like she kicked down America over and over again!

FX also released the opening credits, which is a little Hitchcock, a little Mad Men and a little me playing with my sister’s Barbies behind a dramatic shadow puppet scrim (aka a bed sheet with a lamp pointed at it).
