Pitbull Was Paid $1 Million To Sing About Florida’s “Sexy Beaches”

Back in July, Pitbull released a song called Sexy Beaches, which as you can guess is about sexy beaches. Particularly, Florida’s sexy beaches. Pitbull, who is from Miami, shouts about sexy beaches and hotels as sexy bitches in swimsuits splash around in slow motion in the water. It was pretty much a commercial for Florida. The only thing missing was a voice-over at the end instructing you to dial 1-800-FLORIDA and ask to speak to Candace for more information on vacation packages.

As it turns out, yeah, Sexy Beaches was a commercial, and Pitbull got paid a lot of money for it. Unfortunately, he got in a little trouble this week because it took a lot of poking to get Pitbull to admit how much he was paid for it.

According to the Miami Herald, Florida House Speaker Richard Corcoran filed a suit on Tuesday against Pitbull’s production company demanding to know how much he was paid for the video. The video ends with the hashtag #LoveFL, which is the hashtag used by the state’s official tourism board, Visit Florida. Richard Corcoran argued that if the video was made in association with Visit Florida and paid for by taxpayers, they deserved to know how much of their money was spent. Especially since it was a video that some were offended by. Both Corcoran and House Democratic Leader Janet Cruz called the video degrading and said that if Pitbull wants to make videos like that, Florida taxpayers shouldn’t be footing the bill.

Pitbull’s people responded on Tuesday with a “no comment.” Yesterday, Pitbull came clean and released the information they were asking for.

That link directs you to a Dropbox containing the contract Pitbull negotiated in July 2015. Pitbull was paid $1 million for a variety of Florida tourism-related things, like the Sexy Beaches video, using the #LoveFL hashtag on social media, and filming multiple pieces for Visit Florida’s “Conquering Florida” series.

Now that Florida legislators know how much Visit Florida paid Pitbull, it could mean bad news for both of them. Or they’ll just get a slap on the wrist and tell them to have less wet slow motion boobs next time. Who knows?

Here’s the video Pitbull received a $1 million check for.

In my opinion, that was $1 million well spent! I immediately called up my travel agent and asked for the first flight to one of Florida’s sexiest beaches and 7 nights in one of their plentiful hotels. Sadly, I didn’t have enough cash for that. So it looks like I’m settling for the next-best option, which according to my bank account is a beach covered in dead horseshoe crabs and a motel with limited meth pipe burns on the mattress.
