You were not a tween or teen in the early 90s until you warped your cassette single of Timmy T’s One More Try from playing it over and over on your boombox after getting dumped. One More Try hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1991 and I can’t even imagine how many hickeys were made while teenagers made out and slow danced to that song at school dances.
Timmy T had other minors hits, like Time After Time and Over and Over, and he still performs at freestyle festivals and concerts today, but on Tuesday he made the local news for something other than his music. Timmy T made the news for breaking up a street fight in his homeland of Fresno. I see that some things never change, like Timmy T being more of a lover than a fighter.
KSEE 24 reports that on Tuesday morning, two women got into a road rage fight in the middle of the street and their messy shenanigans blocked traffic. Timmy T’s car was one of the cars that got blocked, and he writes in a Facebook post that instead of filming the fight on his cell phone like everyone else was, he decided to film the fight AND try to break it up too. Timmy T could’ve easily just crooned out a few seconds of One More Try and those two fightin’ messes wouldn’t be able to fight because they would’ve melted into puddles. Or they would’ve let the gorgeous lyrics sink into their souls and they would’ve fallen in love with each other right there on the street. But instead of soothing them with his freestyle nightingale voice, Timmy T talked down their rage and saved the day.
After Timmy T posted his own video on Facebook, it went viral in Fresno and KSEE 24 interviewed him:

Timmy T says that he hopes his story inspires people to be doers instead of watchers. So, am I going to listen to Timmy T and get out of my car to break up a road rage fight the next time I see one? Nope, but I will roll down all of my windows and blast One More Try. Those bitches will immediately stop brawling once Timmy T’s voice temporarily paralyzes their angry nerves:
