Sorry, No SAG Nomination For You, Tom Hiddleston

December 14, 2016 / Posted by:

What a shame. Tom Hiddleston truly turned out a convincing performance this year. So nuanced and powerful. I mean, there were some moments when I actually believed he was dating Taylor Swift for real. Oh, and he was also in The Night Manager. But sadly, the SAG Awards committee won’t be recognizing either performance. Tom got an Emmy nomination, a Golden Globe nomination, and a Critics’ Choice Award nomination for his role in The Night Manager, but no SAG. At least he’s still got the Golden Globes awards to look forward to. Just think of all that free booze, Tom. It will make it sting a little less.

The 2016 SAG nominations were announced this morning by Sophia Bush and Common. The SAG noms were a little more predicable than the Golden Globe noms, which came out earlier this week. The SAGs are only given out to actors, and pretty much every actor you expected to be nominated got nominated. Meryl Streep for that old-timey WB Superstar USA movie? Check. A bunch of people from Manchester by the Sea? Yup. Natalie Portman slowing down all her vowels for Jackie? But of course!

All the nominees are after the cut. Please pour out some spirit gum for John Travolta, for he and his Robert Shapiro brows were once again snubbed.
