It’s been two years since we covered Luke Bryan, the country-fried tailgate party version of Tom Cruise. The last time we saw him he had taken a tumble off the stage and into my heart. Nothing makes me bust a gut like a famous person falling on their ass or face! Well, speaking of busting things at concerts, Luke took his angry little hands to a mouthy fan’s face at his concert on Wednesday.
TMZ is saying that the guy in question was standing front row and getting all kinds of assholey in Luke’s direction. I’m picturing Z-snaps and hot dance battling, but apparently it was more middle fingers and cursing.
[A] fan in the front gave Luke the finger, and that’s all she wrote. He walked down, and with his fist wrapped around the mic, smacked the guy in the side of the head.
I guess this guy wasn’t the first person to get on Luke’s nerves that night, because apparently people buy tickets to his concert just to fuck with him. I guess? I’m not sure why else you’d bother going to a concert (IN THIS ECONOMY!) just to heckle a dude.
Luke was performing Wednesday night when several fans took aim — one waved a sign that read, “We can see your camel toe” … referring to the tight jeans Luke famously wears.
The signs, the fistfights, the heckling: it sounds like Luke’s fans got confused and thought they were headed to Monday Night RAW instead of a tame-ass country show. This went down in Nashville so maybe this is some deep insider country music beef I don’t fully understand. (I may live in Texas, but I’m still a terrible coastal elite at heart.)
Luke’s PR team issued a statement to Entertainment Tonight basically saying that the man who got duffed was being rude to Luke, but also to military veterans for whom the concert was raising money.
“A man in [the] front row was making crude hand gestures toward Luke during his performance,” the singer’s rep tells ET in a statement. “It was insulting not only to him, but more importantly to the men, women and families sitting around him who were there to support and celebrate Charlie Daniels and the efforts of raising money for the military veterans – some of who were in the audience. The concert security personnel saw the man’s disruptive actions of the event and he was escorted out.”
