Mike Pence Was Booed At A Performance Of “Hamilton”
Indiana’s governor and our new Vice President-Elect Mike Pence (aka “The Man Behind The Orange Curtain“) was just trying to relax last night. He probably had a long day of gleefully assisting President-Elect Donald Trump in deciding which hugely problematic men to pick for his cabinet. He’s in NYC, why not see the biggest show on Broadway?
No one back home told Mike, who’s notorious for his gay-hating legislation, that Broadway is what you would call really gay. Bitch got booed at last night’s performance of Hamilton, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
During Friday night’s curtain call at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, the Broadway cast addressed the presence of the vice president-elect, who was heavily booed by the audience upon entry.
Whoever recommended that Mike should take in a show is obviously not getting a cubicle at the White House. We see you, Chris Christie! The cast of Hamilton, led by Brandon Victor Dixon who plays Aaron Burr, addressed VP-Elect Pence during the curtain call.
“Vice president-elect, I see you walking out but I hope you will hear us,” said Brandon Victor Dixon, who plays Aaron Burr. He also told the audience, “There’s nothing to boo here, we’re all sharing a story of love.”
“We welcome you, and we truly thank you for joining us here at Hamilton: An American Musical — we really do,” he continued. “We are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights, sir. But we truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values, and work on behalf of all of us.”
“We truly thank you for sharing this show, this wonderful American story told by a diverse group of men and women of different colors, creeds and orientations,” Dixon concluded to Pence.
Hamilton producer Jeffrey Seller told THR that the production received Mike’s request to attend the show Friday afternoon (is THAT how you get tickets?) and that Brandon’s statement “was written with creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, director Tommy Kail and the cast at large.”
Javier Munoz, who replaced Lin-Manuel as the show’s namesake (and ensured that I will never have theatre queen bragging rights when I finally see Hamilton in 2056), is openly gay.
Mike was addressed rather eloquently but, as was noted, his ass was moving on up the aisle with his back to everyone, which many would point out is an apt metaphor for the incoming Trump administration. He probably didn’t have a “Grinch with the sleigh at the top of Mt. Crumpit” moment and suddenly embrace peaceful co-existence. In Mike’s defense, he probably heard that Broadway is nicknamed “The Great White Way” and figured it was a safe space for him.

And if you thought Trump would refrain from commenting about this on Twitter, then you’re new here.
Our wonderful future V.P. Mike Pence was harassed last night at the theater by the cast of Hamilton, cameras blazing. This should not happen!

Trump, who as we know helps to create safe places for everyone, went on to say that the theater should be a safe place.
The Theater must always be a safe and special place. The cast of Hamilton was very rude last night to a very good man, Mike Pence. Apologize!

Brandon Victor Dixon had something to say about Trump getting mad at a musical.
@realDonaldTrump conversation is not harassment sir. And I appreciate @mike_pence for stopping to listen.

The good news is that if idiots decide to show their allegiance to Trump by boycotting Hamilton, the rest of us will finally be able to get a ticket!
