Demi Lovato Has More Thoughts About Taylor Swift’s Perfect Friends Squad
Demi Lovato has come many famous people in the past – Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, Olivia Culpo, just to name a few. But one of her favorite targets is Taylor Swift. Demi didn’t like the level of effort Taylor put into #FreeingKesha and she really doesn’t like Taylor’s idea of feminism. That last conversation happened back in May. Demi must have wanted to take the summer off to recharge her Taytred batteries, because she’s back and dragging Taylor again.
While talking about Taylor back in May, Demi side-eyed Taylor by saying: “Don’t brand yourself a feminist if you don’t do the work” and accusing her of pitting women against each other. During a recent interview with Glamour. Demi was asked if she wanted to elaborate on the whole “doing the work” part of that statement. They might as well have said, “You wanna go off on someone who sounds suspiciously like Taylor Swift for 10 minutes?“, because that’s sort of what ended up happening.
“I’m not afraid to talk about the fact that women get paid less than men in the United States and how unfair that is. Talking about it at all is doing the work. And I think every woman does her part in some way. But I think in certain situations, certain people could be doing more if they’re going to claim that as part of their brand. To be honest, and this will probably get me in trouble, I don’t see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body. It’s kind of this false image of what people should look like. And what they should be like, and it’s not real.”
Glamour reminded Demi that there’s many kinds of “normal” bodies before saying that what she probably meant was that all the bodies in a certain unnamed squad all look like they were drawn by one of Demi’s fans.
There is a chance Demi might not be referring to Taylor’s Size-2 Sweeties. As of 20 weeks ago, Lena Dunham was still a member.. The next most popular “squad” I can think of would be the Kardashians, which I guess would make sense, considering their bodies passed the turn-off for normal about 6 surgeries ago. Let’s face it though, it sounded like she was probably talking about Taylor’s. But just in case she was being a titch too subtle, Demi made it obvious:
“It’s not realistic. And I think that having a song and a video about tearing Katy Perry down, that’s not women’s empowerment. We all do things that aren’t, but I have to ask myself, Am I content with calling myself a feminist? Yes, because I speak out.”
Not surprisingly, Demi is now claiming that some of her words about the Model Body Squad might have been taken out of context. However, she’s not exactly sorry about what she said. She just wants people to focus on more important things, okay?
I get asked questions. I answer them. Sue me.

Also don’t forget that words can be taken out of context when doing interviews.. still not apologizing for saying what everyone want to say

I don’t understand why people care so much about what I say in interviews? Do y’all watch the news? Don’t y’all got shit to worry about?

Taylor has never straight-up confirmed that “Bad Blood” is about Katy Perry, but she’s definitely alluded to it. It sounds like Demi just wants Taylor to start naming-names when she comes for people? Maybe Demi could volunteer to give her a one-on-one class in how to do that. If you’re going to learn, you might as well learn from one of the best.
Here’s more of Demi in Glamour looking like she’s trying out a bunch of characters for a set of acting headshots.
