Amber Rose Swatted At Julianne Hough For “Body-Shaming” Her On DWTS

Dancing with the Stars judge Julianne Hough wasn’t feeling what Amber Rose was giving earlier this week. Some people may have be swooning when Amber stepped onto the dance floor looking like a third-rate Angelina Jolie impersonator in a Sequin City costume knock-off inspired by Kim Kardashian’s in the “M.I.L.F.$” video. But according to Amber, Julianne wasn’t one of them. Amber thinks Julianne “body-shamed” her, and she recently let everyone know about it.

On Monday night, Amber and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy danced a salsa to the Jennifer Lopez ass anthem “Booty.” If you ask Amber, Julianne probably thought they should have been dancing to “2 Much Booty (In The Pants).” During Amber and Maks’ performance, Amber lifted her leg up on Maks’ hip so he could dip her, which is a pretty common move if you watch DWTS. You can watch it happen at the 0:55 mark below.

During an episode of  Loveline with Amber Rose (via E! News), Amber said that while Maks dipped her, she overheard Julianne tell Bruno Tonioli: “I actually feel a little uncomfortable.” Amber says she instantly felt body-shamed by Julianne. According to Amber, Julianne’s discomfort came from a place of being grossed out by thick sexy bodies.

“All the beautiful professional dancers that are on Dancing with the Stars, I mean, they dress very sexy, and they do splits, and they grind up on these guys, and they look absolutely stunning. They get a standing ovation. And for me and my body – my hips, my ass, my breasts – made her feel uncomfortable.”

Julianne told E! News that it’s not like that and her comment about feeling uncomfortable was about Amber’s salsa. It was also taken out of context. Julianne covers all the “Don’t blame me!” bases.

“To be clear, that was a produced package, not live coverage and they can put those sound bites anywhere. My ‘uncomfortable’ comment was about the fact that I felt like I wanted more out of the performance – when someone is doing a hot, sexy dance like that without the right amount of energy that is required, it can be uncomfortable to watch. Trust me I’m ALL for a sexy booty dance!! We all know that!! And any kind of body shaming goes against everything I believe in.”

Julianne’s not wrong about Amber’s dance moves being on the slow side. But I don’t know if it’s a lack of energy so much as it’s a fashion physics thing. Clothing fibers can try to bend and move along with the human body, but there’s only so many quick movements they can take before the zipper throws up its arms and says “That’s it, I quit” and her pants split open. We’ve already seen Nancy Grace’s nipple, we don’t need to also see Amber’s pantyhose-wrapped rosebud. And really, if people want to see that, they can just go to her Instagram page.

Here’s Amber Rose at a press conference for the Amber Rose Slut Walk yesterday.
